This study was conducted to investigate the attitudes of teachers towards the effectiveness and suitability of the components of the 10th Grade English syllabus in the Nablus District. More specifically, this study attempted to answer the following questions: To what extent do teachers of English vary in their attitudes toward the effectiveness and suitability of the 10th Grade English syllabus? Do these attitudes vary with the following variables: age, gender, academic qualifications, TEFL experience and TEFL training?

The population of this study consisted of 60 male and female teachers of English who taught English to the 10th Grade in government schools in the Nablus District in 1996. The sample of the study included the entire population of the study.
The finding of this study also showed that (41.1%) of teachers received no pre- or in-service training at all. The study also found (71.4%) that one school year was not enough to cover the syllabus.
