Teachers' Attitudes Towards Using DramaTechniques in Teaching the Sneaking Skillof Secondary School Students at Jenin District

The purpose of the study is to investigate teachers' attitudes towards using drama techniques in teaching and improving the speaking skill of the secondary school students in Jenin District. This study attempted to answer the following questions:
-Do English language teachers use drama techniques in teaching the speaking skill in secondary classes in Jenin District?

-According to English language teachers', what are the goals of using drama techniques in teaching the speaking skill in secondary classes?
-Is there any difference between teachers' (males, females) attitudes towards using drama techniques in teaching the speaking skills in secondary classes?

-Is there a difference     in teachers' attitudes towards changing the textbooks that are currently used in teaching English language, particularly, tl1e speaking skill?
-Is there any difference in teachers' attitudes who teach the literary stream students and those who teach scientific stream towards using drama techniques the speaking skill?
-Is there a difference in teachers' attitudes toward using drama techniques in teaching the speaking skill due to experience.

-What are teachers'      attitudes toward using drama techniques in teaching the speaking skill in secondary classes?

The population of the study consisted of all male and female teachers' of secondary classes in Jenin District. They were (79). To achieve the objectives of the study, the researcher used a questionnaire, which was developed and modified to suit the main purposes of the study. The questionnaire consisted of (37) items and the answer pattern was according to the Likert-Five- Point scale. The results were analyzed by using means and frequencies to examine the attitudes of teachers' toward using drama techniques in teaching the speaking skill. The study showed the following results:

- Teachers have positive attitudes toward using drama techniques in teaching the speaking skill: they generally use role-playing, games, and simulation.
- Teachers use, particularly, the following drama techniques in teaching the speaking skills as: role-play, games, and simulation.
- The aim of using drama techniques in teaching the speaking skill was to Improve students' ability to speak, develop the speaking skill, and decrease students' shyness and fear.

-  The gender of the teacher does not seem to make any significant difference on both teachers' attitudes and using of drama techniques in teaching the speaking skill.
- Teachers' of scientific stream were more motivated to use drama techniques in teaching the speaking skill rather than those in literary strearn. At the end, the researcher put forward some recommendations and suggestions for improving the speaking skill in the secondary schools of Palestine.

- The researcher also recommended establishing a kind of cooperation between the Ministry 0ITducation, Syllabus designers, and English language teachers to improve the teaching learning process in our schools.
