This study aimed at investigating the following:
-Teachers' attitudes towards the communicative approach that they are asked to implement inside the classroom.

-Teachers' degree of implementation of the approach.

-The effect of the current educational settings - such as the large number of students in the class, textbooks, the pressure of formal exams, teachers' training, teachers' motivation, time, workload, students' background in English and the absence of visual aids - on both teachers' attitudes and implementation of the communicative approach.

The study revealed the following: The current educational settings may have some negative influence on teachers' attitudes and implementation of the approach. However such negative influence is not strong enough to warrant the implementation of the approach.
