This study aimed at investigating the effect of using of feedback. Four strategies: No-feedback strategy, Overmarking strategy, Selective (intralingual) strategy. Selective (interlingual) strategy. The study attempted to answer the following question:

Does the writing performance of students who are provided with feedback on their written composition differ significantly from that of those who are not provided with such feedback.

The sample of the study consisted of 60 students in the writing Course (32112) enrolled in the first semester 1995/ 96 at An-Najah National University. This sample was divided randomly into four groups, fifteen students each, to test the four strategies. The researcher asked the subjects to write compositions on three different topics of the same.

The results showed that there were statistically significant differences between the no-feedback group and the overmarking group on the one hand and the two selective groups in favour of the selective groups.

The results also indicate that there were no statistically significant difference between the no-feedback group and the overmarking group. They also indicated that there were no statistically significant difference between the selective intralingual group and the selective interlingual group.
