The synthesis of new organic monomers and polymers is described. Protected monomeric species 2,5-bis[(2propanol) ethynyl]pyridine 1 and 2,5-bis[(trimethylsilyl)ethynyl] pyridine 2 were prepared using bis (triphenylphosphine) palladium(II)chloride as catalyst according to Heck-like reaction. The preparation of the monomeric species 2,5diethynylpyridine 3 is described using two different methods.

The chemical preparations of poly(2,5-diethynylpyridine) 4 and poly(2,5-thiophinediethynylpyridine) 5 are described. The yields of polymer 4 and 5 were fairly good (43% and 45%, respectively). Poly (2,5-diethynylpyridine) 6 was prepared electrochemically using two solvents, methanol and acetonitrile. The prepared monomeric and polymeric species were characterized spectroscopically using IR, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, GC-MS,Ion-spray-MS, UV-vissible and Emission fluorescence
